let's begin with the definition of anekantavada. what does it mean? it means multiple perspectives. there are multiple unknowns in each situation and no situation or phenomenon can be judged based on simply one observation. the essence of life is multi-faceted yet extremely singular - we are that which we are. we are soul and body at present time, but the goal is to experience the cleavage between body & soul. they coexist, sure, but they are independent of one another. like oil & water, we are separate from our bodies and our actions. karmic theory states that we reap what we sow. all things that happen to us today are exactly and perfectly that which we are meant to experience. there is no question about it. whatever happens, happens for the best. there are multiple truths. truth is not simply one thing. there is no one truth. the truth is T in this equation and can be interpreted as the combination of all possible facts x all the possible interpretations - all the opinions. though there are multiple truths, certain truths cannot change. the universe's eternal truths cannot be known but there are those who have experienced them. it is like a rock of sugar candy which can be consumed and you can try to describe it to your friends as sweet, but truly, without actually tasting and experiencing first-hand, you will never know the taste. it is the belief of jainism that our souls have existed for an eternity and that we have reincarnated countless of times over. a brief description of the amounts of lives we've had in the past is something like this: imagine the combination of all the ocean bodies in the world. now multiply that by a rounded number of 9. now, imagine the drops (1 drip from your faucet) that are contained within that body of water, that 1 drop of water constitutes a countless number of lives we have had in the past. not just a trillion, beyond trillion, beyond the calculator. and the body of water signifies the number of lives we have had in total; so essentially super countless, or infiniti. so now we wonder, what is the point of this? why do we continue to have cycles of life and birth? the answer is simple; we do not embrace the truth. and what is the truth? that we are soul and not simply body. that material happiness that we know now - we have experienced in a past life - imagine your perception of the happiest human being...you have had that material happiness in a past life. but what you haven't had and i haven't had is the perception and vision of my soul. it's here and it exists, but it's been drowned out by the unimportant, the temporary, the insignificant. the truth is that we need to let go. the truth is that we can continue our lives by living them, but with one tremendous caveat; that what we experience with the 5 senses is not the truth. that the truth is yet to be discovered and it can be: through meditation, focus, and constant awareness that sahajatma swarup param guru. you may not want to have read this and i made it especially intense and stream of consciousness for a reason. i am not here to preach, only to let you know that our knowledge is based on books and reading and things we have learned second-hand. and my only urge is that you try to find happiness by being alive, by breathing, by being aware. and that is all i can say for now. hope that one day you find the truth. om.
