"Hikikomori" is a social disorder in which people lock themselves in their own rooms with the necessities (tv, internet, music) and they do not leave. The disorder is common in Japan. Many times it starts out being that the person locks themself in the room for 3 days during tests to study. But in the worst cases, people do not leave their rooms for years. They do not even speak with their family members. They just stay in their rooms. Mostly this is caused because of social pressure and ones who stay in their rooms for years. These become lost causes - people who will never be able to have anything but maybe a part-time job and lose all ideas on how to behave in society.
