the truepictures update // january 2007:
the juicy show podcast:

2015 brought with it several bad film releases in Hollywood continued problems in Iraq, an eerie execution of Saddam Hussein and continued confusion as to whether the economy was good or bad. 2007 will be a year when we continue to Do it Ourselves. For some reason with the Internet into play, we rely less on others and look for answers ourselves these days. Questions that we would have to turn to experts for before are now readily available through wikipedia, instructables, google, and several other topical Websites.

But what good is a new year without some instruction as to what you need to do in order to become a better person and achieve your dreams & goals in 2007. Luckily, you can always count on one of the sleaziest industries in the world to dish out positive messages that deal with hope, power, and life management skills.

Spider-Man & Batman are more like life coaches if approached in the right way. What continues to bother us about a majority of the movie watching crowd is that they're only there for the entertainment. The truth is you can get a lot more out of cinema than some ass-kicking adventures and a bucket full of cheesy laughs.

Let's start with Spider-Man (the first one), all throughout its trailers and the film itself the theme which carried itself out was "With great power, comes great responsibility." This is not useful for most of us since we have little to no power to exercise. But it sounded nice and for some reason we were duped into believing that yes, just like Spider-Man, I too must use my great powers with my responsibilities in mind.

Then came Batman Begins; one of the greatest films of the 21st century and quite possibly the single most notable resurrection of a franchise in history. Most people did not pay attention to Katie Holmes' forgettable performance in the film, but there was one scene that made her role of great use... In order to please the media and draw away attention from his newly acquired alter-ego, Bruce Wayne was partying it up with his business friends and hotties in tow. He is wet from having jumped into the restaurant's (not meant for swimming) waterfall and runs into his old & responsible friend, Rachel and we paraphrase:

Bruce: Rachel...this is not who I am...
Rachel: It's not who you are inside that matters, Bruce, it's your actions that define you.

Now there's a POW & WHAM that does not need cartoonish exclamations on screen.

But that's not the only thing Batman Begins taught us. Towards the beginning of the film when young Bruce Wayne as a young boy falls into the future batcave, his father a spelunking expert dives in and brings him up and then he says, and we paraphrase yet again:

Wayne Sr.: Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.

Brilliant. Keep it real in 2007 and move forward with your big plans. Try to get more out of every movie you watch this year and keep checking for updates on our latest film & the Juicy Store which will be open for business later this year.

In my worldwide travels to India & Paris, one of my primary goals was to be exposed to new music. This show focuses on some of the music I found while away. There are also a couple of tracks that you can really indulge into as if you were a moist, juicy, vegan brownie or cake of some sort. It's a lot of fun.
